Vision

ChiCann’s Education and Workforce Development initiatives are rooted in the belief that Chicago’s communities should not only have access to the cannabis industry, but also the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to help shape and lead it. Our vision is to build pathways for individuals and communities to access, build, and thrive within the evolving cannabis ecosystem through education, workforce training, entrepreneurship, and community-centered development.

We are committed to improving the health and social conditions of our communities by creating meaningful opportunities for learning, employment, leadership, and sustainable economic participation. Through partnerships with organizations that have deep roots in Chicago’s historically disinvested communities, ChiCann works to support intergenerational empowerment—from youth to elders—while helping ensure that cannabis legalization creates tangible and lasting community benefit.

Our work centers education as a tool for equity, wellness, and long-term revitalization. We are invested in expanding community knowledge in areas including responsible cannabis practices, sustainable cultivation and green growing technologies, plant science, workforce readiness, compliance, entrepreneurship, and business development. By connecting education with opportunity, we aim to help cultivate a cannabis industry grounded in accountability, accessibility, sustainability, and community ownership.

Mission

Our mission is to develop high-quality cannabis professionals through comprehensive education, applied research, and strategic collaboration. We empower workers to build rewarding careers and equip businesses with a skilled, knowledgeable workforce ready to meet the evolving demands of Chicago’s cannabis industry. By uniting academic rigor with real-world experience, we strengthen the city’s cannabis ecosystem—advancing innovation, compliance, and community growth. We are building a powerhouse of cannabis professionals in Chicago who are setting the national standard — not just in knowledge, but in service to the cannabis industry. Through these efforts, we aim to make Chicago a national leader for delivering exceptional service and expertise across the cannabis sector.

Responsible Vendor Curriculum

ChiCann provides Illinois state-mandated Responsible Vendor training through the South and West Coalition for Commerce, designed to prepare cannabis professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to operate responsibly, safely, and compliantly within the industry. Our curriculum goes beyond basic compliance by integrating education around wellness, public safety, community impact, and the evolving landscape of cannabis policy and practice.

Workforce Development

We are committed to building pathways into the cannabis industry through workforce development initiatives that support education, training, and career readiness. We aim to increase access to opportunity for individuals and communities historically impacted by disinvestment and criminalization by creating meaningful connections to employment, entrepreneurship, and long-term industry participation.

Community Education

We believe cannabis education should be accessible, culturally responsive, and community-centered. ChiCann offers educational programming and conversations that explore cannabis through the lenses of health, wellness, policy, criminalization, sustainability, plant science, and economic opportunity. Our goal is to help communities engage with the cannabis industry through informed dialogue and shared knowledge.

ChiCann develops training programs that support cannabis professionals, entrepreneurs, and community members in building practical knowledge and industry skills. Our trainings are designed to bridge compliance, operations, wellness, and leadership while helping participants navigate the evolving cannabis landscape with confidence and accountability.
